Emmett Up North

Here a few additional shots of Emmett bonding with his Northern relatives. Or, really, one special relative in particular. Happy Father's Day Grandpa Peter!

Thanks to Aunt Deborah Bradford and Addie Kurz for the photos.

Moving!

Well, all systems are finally up at The New House, and the camera cords have been unearthed from their boxes. So here are some scenes from the move. First, the day before the big event, Aunt Annie and Uncle Andy took Thomas to the Natural History Museum so we could pack. This is how he was returned to us:

Note that he is still wearing his pajama top in that photo. I guess we didn't even manage to dress him that morning.

Then, because construction was not quite done at The New House, Grandma Nancy, Thomas, Emmett and Laura left for Ocean City, NJ. Grandpa Doug, Dave and Vanessa heroically tackled the dust and jumping spiders to unpack. Grandma, Mommy and the boys, once we made it through a harrowing drive, had a fantastic time. We pretty much had the beach to ourselves:

Thomas and Nancy jumped the waves together. We all kicked back in the beautiful Kuhn family cottage, just steps from the beach.

When we got back, the boxes were unpacked (mostly), and we could just enjoy them and the new playroom:

More photos of The New House to come. In the meantime, we here at The Kirkpatrick Boys would belatedly like to welcome little Kaya Kurz to the world. Here is Emmett celebrating with Grandpa Ted:

Boys and Rabbits

I'm writing this from Jane's computer at Grand Kathy's, because our epic move has made both camera and computer temporarily unavailable. I spent last week in Ocean City NJ with heroic Grandma Nancy while our also heroic contractors worked to shore up some late-discovered termite damage in the new house. Thomas was slightly confused and kept asking if the beach house was the "new house", but didn't seem to mind having moved so close to the ocean. Hopefully I can post some pics from there soon. In the meantime, here is a picture of Thomas taken at his little preschool on Capitol Hill. We were really down on the school for allowing commercial photographers to come in and take photos of the children as a "morning activity" with the idea of then selling the photos back to the parents. But, I think you'll have to agree, it's a pretty great photo:

Note that Thomas' "Brazil" shirt, a present from actual Brazilian Vanessa, is in heavy rotation. That's all for now, but I'd like to close with an homage to Jane and this computer, which is brimming over with photos of Jane's patients:

Grand Kathy to the Rescue!

Sorry we've been silent for so long.  We ran into technical problems with the camera.  But, in a switch of the usual stereotype. Grand Kathy came to town and used her digital savvy to help us workaround it.  So, here's some Mother's Day photos from a trip to the DC Aquatic Gardens with friend Will Savage:

Hope we'll be back in full operation soon.  Meanwhile, for those of you curious about the new house, here's a peek:
