New Thomas Story

We opened up our spring MBIS newsletter, to find  a story by Thomas on page 3.  And it's about Emmett!  Here it is:

Far far away and a long time ago there lived a boy named Emmett.  He went for a walk in the woods.  Suddenly he fell down a hole.  Bump!  "I'm lost" he said.  Then he saw a house and went inside.  Then he saw a bowl of cheerios and 2 bowls of oatmeal.  Then the gummy bears came and he ate them.

You can see why this story was one of only two chosen to represent the class.  My favorite part is the "bump!"  But the giant gummy bears at the end are good too.

here is an easter bonnet fight:

In one week we leave for Sicily!  Ciao.

One of the things we love about the boys school is all the events and shows they put on. This past week was sports week for Emmett and thomas. It's just like Harry potter with houses and house points and winning the school cup etc. here Emmett lines up for serious competition:

And here he is in action:

Thomas pretty much just sillied it up the whole time.

This past weekend we actually left Maadi! We went to a fair in Zamalek, the chic island neighborhood downtown.

It was held in the fish gardens, which don't have actual fish but they do have caves and bats.

International Day

Resolved: All superheroes are American. Discuss

It was on this theory that I let the boys wear superhero costumes to the school international week parade. Everyone is supposed to wear a costume representing their home country.

However, when Emmett, as batman, repeated my theory to his British teacher, she found it very objectionable. As did several other Brits.

What do you think?

Thomas' class sang a song from china.

The 5th graders performed a hula and surf dance to represent Hawaii. It brought down the house. I was so proud.
