grandparents

Here are the boys soaking up wisdom from their forebearers: Grandma Nancy is reading to Emmett about eyes, and Grandpa Peter is showing Thomas how to dredge soft shell crabs in preparation for cooking.  Word is this how it's been done since Mayflower days.

These visits occurred a few weeks ago now, but we like to savor the memories ourselves before sharing them with the world.  You understand.

I have heard that Grandpa Peter indulges excessively in hopps and bizarrely named ice cream flavors. Also that the chef is getting insufficient credit.

I have heard also that Thomas and Claire both partook of soft shell crabs, Thomas with fewer reservations. He seems to have a spark of the kill-what-you-eat, eat-what-you-kill spirit that got us through the coldest of winters.

Maggie says I should make "some kind of comment about Peter and crabs" but I'm not sure what she means.
