Unclear what Emmett's role is, but Thomas used to cast him as "Baby Hook." Maybe that's where the pirates come in.

Because Emmett has a proper English governess he has very good manners. As does his Grand Kathy, as illustrated below.



Devan has also found a donor match. His parents are relieved. He's home from the hospital getting outpatient therapy now. Below he and Thomas begin cleaning out his fireplace. It took me a minute to realize that this wasn't such a good idea.

Devan

Last weekend we went to visit our friend Devan in the hospital.  His leukemia has returned and he will need to stay there for a while now for chemotherapy.  I guess he has a really bad kind that is unusual in kids.  He seemed like the same old Dev and was in a good mood when we went by.  Thomas enjoyed playing with the up and down buttons on Dev's bed and calling the nurse at frequent intervals.

Dave is now in Egypt for a week.  We miss him a lot and wonder what he is seeing.  Before he left for NYC Thomas told him his train and plane had been canceled because "you love your son too much."

Here are the boys soaking up wisdom from their forebearers: Grandma Nancy is reading to Emmett about eyes, and Grandpa Peter is showing Thomas how to dredge soft shell crabs in preparation for cooking.  Word is this how it's been done since Mayflower days.

These visits occurred a few weeks ago now, but we like to savor the memories ourselves before sharing them with the world.  You understand.
